Preliminary information indicates on February 23, 2022, at around 8:15 am, School Resource Officers with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Carson City High School were notified of a student on campus with a firearm. The 14-year-old male was quickly disarmed and taken into custody. An investigation revealed that the student in question had pointed the firearm at others; however, the gun was never discharged.

The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team will continue prescribed fire operations around Lake Tahoe this week as conditions and weather allow. The Carson City Sheriff's Office released more details into Tuesday morning's standoff with a man that resulted in an officer involved shooting.

After a morning of interviewing the final two candidates for the position of superintendent for the Carson City School District, the board trustees offered the position to Dr. John Goldhardt of Manchester School District in New Hampshire.

The final two candidates were Dr. Goldhardt and Andrew Fueling, who is the current Fiscal Services Officer for the school district.
