Carson High School student arrested for bringing gun to school
School district officials confirmed Wednesday that a Carson High School student was arrested for bringing a gun to school. No person was injured.
The incident occurred in morning hours of Wednesday Feb. 23, 2022. School Resource Officers were immediately onsite and helped secure the situation.
The school was never officially put on lockdown. The district is cooperating with local authorities, and an investigation is ongoing. Students and staff directly involved with the incident are being provided social and emotional support as needed.
UPDATE 11:30AM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said CCSO and School Resource Officers are working with the school district.
The situation is under control and the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff said.
School staff interceded after a gun was displayed, calling School Resource Officers, said Furlong.
CCSO is investigating where the gun came from and how the student came into possession, he said.
