Carson City Superintendent reaches out to parents in phone message about student with gun
The following is a phone message sent out to parents from Carson City Superintendent Richard Stokes regarding this morning's incident in which a student was arrested for bringing a gun to school.
"Hello, this is Superintendent Richard Stokes of the Carson City School District.
"As you have likely heard, there was an incident this morning where a student was arrested for bringing a gun to Carson High School. We were very fortunate that nobody was hurt. We are grateful for the swift actions of school officials and the support of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
"Thanks to the quick action of staff and school resource officers, the student was disarmed. Law enforcement and school staff ascertained the student acted alone and there was no suspicion of any coordinated effort involving other parties. The school is offering social and emotional support for any staff member or student desiring counseling. Please contact Carson High School’s Counseling Office at 775-283-1915 for assistance.
"I am very grateful for our professional staff and School Resource Officers for their efforts in keeping our students safe today. Thanks for your help and support for our schools."
