Great Sierra River Cleanup

Do you love having a blue Lake and clean streams in our Tahoe backyard? So do we! But when we get to work, live and play in a city in the midst of Sierra wilderness, keeping our waters blue and clean takes some team effort.
The Great Sierra River Cleanup, a project of the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, is a growing network of lake and stream-side community clean ups aimed at keeping the rivers and lakes of the Sierra clean and free of litter pollution. Keeping our alpine waterways clean also protects downstream water quality–from the foothills, to Sacramento, to the Central Valley, the Bay and the ocean.
Just three hours of volunteering with your co-workers, family, neighbors and classmates makes a HUGE difference! Last year, almost 200 volunteers from Tahoe communities picked up about 1300 lbs. of trash from beaches, streams and streambanks all around the South Shore. This year, there will be 10 clean up sites around Lake Tahoe.
