Nevada Division of Forestry names John Christopherson as Deputy Administrator of Operations
CARSON CITY — John Christopherson has been named Deputy Administrator of Operations for the Nevada Division of Forestry, the state's forester and fire warden announced Thursday.
With a strong background in natural resource management and fire ecology, Christopherson has spent 22 years with NDF and has worked as Forest Health Specialist, Western Region Resource Management Officer, and since 2009, as Resource Program Manager, according to an NDF news release.
He received his BS and MS degrees in Forestry and Watershed Management from the University of Arizona, and worked as a hydrologist and forester with state and local governments in Arizona and New Mexico, before moving to Nevada to work with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
“John has been a strong advocate for the agency and its service to Nevada," said State Forester and Firewarden, Kacey KC. "He has worked closely with all program areas in the Division and recognizes the importance of each to successfully accomplish NDF’s mission to enhance, conserve and protect our forests, rangeland, and watersheds.”
The Nevada Division of Forestry is a division within the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The Division coordinates and manages all forestry, nursery, endangered plant species and watershed resource activities on certain public and private lands. The Division provides protection of life, property and natural resources through fire suppression, prevention programs and provides other emergency services as required.
