Dutch Bros third Carson City location opens Friday

Dutch Bros Coffee willl open its third Carson City location, making it the company's 462 shop, this Friday, May 14, at 211 W Appion Way.

“We’re stoked to continue to grow in Carson City and start making drinks for our new neighbors,” said Andy Head, franchisee of Dutch Bros Carson City. “We can’t wait to meet everyone!”

The coffee shop opens at 5 a.m. sharp Friday morning.

Dutch Bros specializes in handcrafted drinks, Dutch classic coffees, Nitro Cold Brew, Dutch Bros Blue Rebel energy drinks, frosts and freezes. See the menu here.

The Appion Way location is next to the new Chick-fil-A. Its hours will be 5 a.m. to 11 p.m daily. The other two location are at the Carson Mall Shopping Center, 1449 South Carson Street, and at 1675 E William Street.

Customers can connect with Dutch Bros Coffee via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and download the Dutch Bros app to earn points and score rewards.

The Slide Fire that started Sunday from an aircraft crash is now 64 acres and 95 percent contained as of around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.

Smoke from California wildfires and a few thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and early evening, mainly in the Sierra into portions of the western Nevada Sierra front, according to the National Weather Service.

TAHOE NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. — Firefighters battling the North Fire that started late Monday afternoon in the Tahoe National Forest 40 miles west of Lake Tahoe are gearing up for a full attack Tuesday morning with more strike teams, hand crews, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, including a large tanker.

Anthony Recker hugged several of Reno Aces teammates after his special game on Sunday. The catcher had three hits, two of them doubles, to lead the team to a victory in its 71st game, guaranteeing a winning season.

The 35-year-old Recker did not play in Monday’s final game of the season, possibly the last time Recker was in a uniform as an active player. He’s played in 1,157 professional games, 206 in the major leagues.

The Reno Aces finished their season in a game typical of most since the All-Star break: Pitcher Taylor Clarke was outstanding, shortstop Ildemaro Vargas received a standing ovation and the Aces were victorious.

The Aces defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes 8-3 at Greater Nevada Field, competing their eighth winning season in 10 years in the Biggest Little City. Reno finished with a 72-68 record, going 30-20 since the All-Star break. The Aces averaged more than 5,000 fans a game, and 4,186 turned out on a warm, sunny Monday Labor Day.

Based on US Census data some 10,000 people live below the poverty line in Carson City, but that does not nearly account for the people squatting in motel rooms or holed up in the bushes near public buildings.

General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Early voting will be open at the Carson City Courthouse Oct. 20 through Nov. 2.

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Sunday at a North Carson Street bar for misdemeanor suspicion of battery, obstructing and resisting arrest, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE 12:47PM: According to KTVN Channel 2, authorities say one person is confirmed dead after a small recreational aircraft crash that sparked the 80-acre Slide Fire. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
