Carson City weekend arrests: Man jailed after punching bouncer at bar
A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Sunday at a North Carson Street bar for misdemeanor suspicion of battery, obstructing and resisting arrest, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, the man became belligerent at a bar in the 300 block of North Carson Street. He was told numerous times to leave the establishment, but continued to yell obscenities at women.
A bouncer at the bar told deputies he grabbed the man by the arm to escort him out. The suspect then struck the bouncer in the face with a closed fist, according to the arrest report.
As the first deputy arrived, the suspect attempted to leave the scene. He was detained by an officer with the help of a bouncer as the suspect continued to be uncooperative.
After deputies spoke with witnesses, the suspect was place under arrest for battery and obstructing. The man stated he wanted medical attention for a sore shoulder and was taken to the hospital. After he was cleared medically, he was transported to jail where he began yelling, screaming and spitting inside the patrol vehicle. Bail: $1,549.
In other arrests:
— A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 11:56 a.m. in the 900 block of South Nevada Street for misdemeanor domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, a couple got into an argument after leaving a casino. The two were inside a vehicle with the man pulling the vehicle over and asking the female suspect to get out of the car.
The woman did not get out of the vehicle and so the victim told deputies he got out of the vehicle and sat on a curb. He told the investigating deputy the argument between him and the woman never became physical.
The woman was interviewed and told deputies the argument never became physical. However a deputy spoke with an independent witness who said they saw the woman hit the man twice in the face while inside the vehicle. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 7:39 a.m. in the 500 block of Roop Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Aug. 30, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $409.
— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 10:38 a.m. in the 1100 block of East William Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued May 15, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $295.
— A 34-year-old Galt, Calif., woman, Michelle Loren Woodyatt, was arrested Sunday for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor defrauding an taxi driver and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 42-year-old Carson City man was also arrested for misdemeanor defrauding a taxi driver.
According to the arrest report, Carson City sheriff’s deputies were called to the 3500 block of Desatoya Drive for a report of two subjects who failed to pay their cab fare.
A deputy arrived on scene and met with the cab driver who advised he picked up the man and woman at the Capital Cab shop and gave them a ride to the location. The total fare came out to $14.70. The subjects exited the cab. The man stated he would return to the cab with the money to pay the driver. He returned with $1.75 and said he didn’t have the rest and would pay him back later. The male suspect then returned to his house. The cab driver made multiple attempts to reestablish contact with both the man and woman but they refused to answer the door, the arrest report states.
The deputy attempted to make contact with the two. After several attempts the man came to the front door. He appeared highly intoxicated and the officer learned the man did not have the means to pay for his fare. Shortly afterward the woman emerged from the residence.
She advised she did not know that the man didn’t pay the fare and said she could pay for the cab fare the following day. Neither said they had cab fare at the time. The cab driver wished to press charges and filled out a citizens arrest form.
During a search of the woman’s belongings the deputy found a glass pipe and two pieces of foil with an unknown crystalline substance. She was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and defrauding a cab driver. Bail: $3,939. Bail for the man for misdemeanor defrauding the cab driver: $302.
— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 10:18 a.m. in the 800 block of Roop Street on Saturday for misdemeanor suspicion of battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. According to the arrest report, two men had an argument over a phone charger that turned into a fight. Bail: $1,137.
