Slide Fire 95 percent contained, FAA and detectives investigate fatal motor glider crash
UPDATE 4:05PM: Two people have now been confirmed deceased after a motor-glider crashed onto Slide Mountain that sparked a brush fire on Sunday, the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office tells KRNV News 4. The names of the victims have not been released.

The Slide Fire that started Sunday from an aircraft crash is now 64 acres and 95 percent contained as of around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
The fire line was mapped late Monday afternoon, which resulted in the reduction in acreage.
The Slide Fire started Sunday afternoon from a crashed Schempp-Flugzeugbau GMBH, Duo Discus motor-glider, the FAA tells KOLO Channel 8. The crash happened under unknown circumstances. Two people were on board, according to KOLO. One person has been confirmed dead, but no information has been released from detectives regarding the status of the other person.
The crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Resources Include: four hand crews, one engine and numerous overhead. Today, Fire crews will continue to mop up and reinforce the fireline. This evening the fire will transition to a Type IV Incident Commander. Two hand crews will remain on the fire to mop up over the next several days.
