Carson City School Board to discuss suicide prevention, social work, superintendent pay and more
The next Carson City School Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street beginning at 7 p.m.
Topics for discussion include proposed changes to school social workers, suicide prevention, a proposed salary increase for the superintendent and more.
The Safe School Professionals Program will be discussed, with proposed changes to Carson City School District (CCSD) Regulation 275, pertaining to school social workers.
A presentation of CCSD Social Workers 3 Year Strategic Plan will take place, which includes data collected on suicide prevention, screening, and referrals for the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year, in accordance with Assembly Bill (AB) 114.
Discussion and possible action will take place on whether to approve the renewal of the contract of employment as superintendent of schools with Richard Stokes for the period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022. With this comes a salary increase to $173,189 per year beginning July 1, 2020.
The Tentative Budget for the CCSD Fiscal year 2020-2021 will be discussed with a presentation.
Rezoning Forum Meetings will take place as follows:
-Feb. 12: Eagle Valley Middle School, 6 p.m. in the gym
-Feb. 13: Carson Middle School, 6 p.m. in the library
-Feb. 27: Fremont Elementary School 5:30 p.m. in the library
There will be no school on Friday, Feb. 14 and Monday, Feb. 17 for the President’s Day Holiday.
On Thursday, Feb. 20 there will be a joint meeting with the Board of Supervisors, held in the Sierra Room of the Community Center at 6 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 24 will be an early release day for all students.
Pre-K releases at 12:15 p.m.
Pioneer High School releases at 12:50 p.m.
Carson High School releases at 1 p.m.
Middle Schools release at 1:20 p.m.
Elementary Schools release at 2 p.m.
Kindergarten registration begins the week of Monday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Birth certificate and immunization record are required, along with proof of residency in the CCSD, and the child must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30.
