Carson City school board president to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon

Joe Cacioppo, District 7 representative and president of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees, will speak via Zoom at Monday's Democratic luncheon. He will provide an update on the issues faced by the board since he last spoke at a meeting of the Central Committee as a candidate for re-election this time last year. He is now in the first year of his third four year term.

The next Carson City School District board of trustees meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Robert “Bob” Crowell Board Room at the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Items to be discussed include policy changes, ACT test scores, teacher recognitions, and more.

Senior Shania West decided early that she wanted to graduate as a Pioneer Panther, and chose to attend Pioneer High School for all four years. Carson City Schools Foundation awards various grants to support students and educators

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Carson City Schools Foundation, is pleased to announce mini and department grant winners for Fall 2020. Each semester, CCSF gives back to educators and students alike. This last semester, the foundation awarded $200 mini-grants as well as up to $2,000 grants for a department, school or grade-level projects.

Free school breakfast and lunch meal program extended to all Carson City children

CARSON CITY — The U.S. Agriculture Department has extending the free school meal program to millions of children nationwide. The program allows families in need to pick up free food from any convenient school campus, even if their child is not enrolled there.

Learn about Pioneer High School in Carson City in time for the 2020 School Year

Pioneer High School is a public high school in the Carson City School District. All 9th-12th grade CCSD students are encouraged to enroll. PHS is accredited through AdvancED and has been recognized by the Nevada Department of Education as a “Highlighted School” for achievement in 2011 and 2018. Students at PHS have been able to earn an Associate’s Degree from WNC along with their high school diploma free of charge.

Pioneer High School Celebrates the Class of 2020

Artist and poet, Jaeda DeWalt wrote, “When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience.” If there is one word to describe Pioneer High School’s class of 2020, it would be “resilient.”

Western Nevada College celebrates graduation of 94 Jump Start students

Western Nevada College’s 2020 Jump Start graduating class includes 94 students representing Carson, Churchill County, Dayton, Douglas, Fernley, Pioneer, Silver Stage, Smith and Virginia City high schools; Oasis Academy and Nevada Virtual Academy; and through homeschooling.
