Bitter Endings and Bright Beginnings: A Saxophone Recital Friday at Brewery Arts Center
This Friday, July 21 at 7 p.m., Jessica R Tucker (saxophone) and Katie Lauder (piano) will perform a recital at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. Ms. Tucker has been selected to attend the prestigious Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow, which has produced the most world champion saxophone players ever.
All proceeds from this event will assist her in moving to Russia to pursue her dream. She is thrilled to present a program of some of her favorite works for the saxophone by composers Francois Bourne, Alexander Glazunov, Alfred Desenclos, and Jacques Ibert.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for Brewery Arts Center members. Purchase tickets at breweryarts.org or call office at 775-883-1976
Ms. Tucker says the following about the recital:
"This recital is a special treat for me. As a native Nevadan, I love nothing better than coming back to the sage and the pines to play. This will be my first solo recital in Nevada since 2012, when I gave a senior recital in my final year of high school at Carson High.
"Since then, I’ve been blessed with seemingly endless opportunities to learn and grow! From playing throughout the Pacific Northwest on the Reno Youth Symphony Orchestra’s 2013 tour, to attending and graduating from the University of North Texas, to my Kennedy Center debut this May as a winner of the VSA International Young Soloists Competition.
"This recital marks the beginning of my most exciting journey yet — I am beginning my masters in music this fall at the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia! I am thrilled for this opportunity, and am incredibly indebted to several amazing members of the Reno/Carson/Tahoe music community."
Proceeds from this recital will be going toward the costs of moving to Russia.
