Carson City deputies make arrests for DUI, drugs and warrants
A 63-year-old woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI second offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the booking report, deputies were called at 7:37 p.m. to assist Carson City Fire Department with a possible DUI.
Deputies made contact with CCFD who said they had a woman in the back of an ambulance who was involved in a crash. They advised the woman was intoxicated and they were going to take her to the hospital.
The officer observed the damaged vehicle blocking one of the entrances to a parking lot in the 3700 block of North Carson Street.
A deputy made contact with two witnesses and took statements. The deputy went to the hospital and contacted ER staff who informed them the woman had refused all treatments and was being provided a taxi. She was in the waiting room where the officer detained her and took her to the patrol vehicle, the report states.
The woman agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She did not consent to a preliminary breath test. Based on observations, the officer believed the woman to be under the influence of alcohol.
The woman refused to voluntarily provide an evidentiary blood sample. The deputy applied for a telephonic search warrant and made contact with the on-call district attorney and judge. The warrant was granted and blood samples were taken. She was booked into jail for suspicion of DUI second. Bail: $2,500.
In other arrests:
— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy was traveling southbound on Stewart Street approaching William Street and observed a vehicle with a registration that returned expired. The officer activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot at 599 East William Street.
The deputy made contact with the driver and explained the reason for the traffic stop. The driver said she thought her registration was set to expired on Sept. 27. The officer asked for her driver's license, registration and proof of insurance. The woman handed the officer her registration and her driver's license and told the officer she need her husband to send her a copy of the insurance, the report states.
As she was speaking the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her person. The deputy asked if she had anything to drink. She said she drank whiskey the night before. The woman agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a preliminary breath test of .198 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. She was read the request for voluntary evidence and consented to a breath test. The results were .135 and .128. Bail: $1,137.
— A 29-year-old woman, Heather Ann Heindl, was arrested Monday for suspicion of possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report. She was taken into custody following an investigation. She was also booked for a parole and probation violation and alleged possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.
— A 41-year-old man, Rodrigo Hernandez, was booked into jail for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued August 30, 2024 out of El Paso, Texas. Bail: $100,000.
— A 45-year-old Reno woman, Sharice Paris, was booked for a felony failure to appear warrant issued out of Washoe County District Court. No bail hold in lieu of extradition.
