It's a Holiday Treat for all — a feast of seasonal and holiday entertainment in many styles! The Annual Holiday Treat Concert will return this year on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023.

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by Music Director David Bugli and Assistant Director Brian Fox, will be joined by the Carson Chamber Singers, conducted by Choral Director Gary Schwartz, and the Victorian Dancers, choreographed by Tiffany Alm.

Just after 3 p.m. Saturday a non-injury crash was reported in the northbound lanes in front of the Capitol on Carson Street.

DCSO is seeking the public's assistance in obtaining information about a series of home burglaries that recently took place, with the suspects possibly driving a white Ford Escape.

A 19-year-old Carson City man who appeared to be suffering from mental health issues was arrested in the 1300 block of Fleetwood Ave. for attempted grand larceny of a motor vehicle after allegedly trying to steal a Door Dasher’s car.

According to the arrest report, the Door Dasher was dropping off a delivery and left his vehicle running. While on his way back to the vehicle, he saw a “young skinny male in a white hoodie” had gotten into the driver’s seat and was attempting to steal and drive off with the vehicle.

Looking for a change, Autumn Stewart decided to join Pioneer Academy halfway through her tenth grade year. She is currently on track to satisfy her graduation requirements a semester early and is planning to take a short break from school before joining the military to follow her goal and lifelong ambition to go into nursing.

A 23-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man were arrested in the area of Research and College Parkway Thursday night for possession of “suspected methamphetamine dust particles.”

According to the arrest report, deputies made a traffic stop due to a license plate being unreadable at 50 feet away. Deputies made contact with the driver, James Weber, and the passenger, Monica Lopez.

The annual Carson Mall Holiday Market has returned for another year, featuring local artists, unique gifts, and of course — Santa Photos!

The market is located inside the Carson Mall and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Western Nevada College’s Financial Aid Office is bringing its services to the community with a three-month pilot program at Carson City Library.

Amelia is an 8-month-old pup. She came in needing medical attention to her eyelids. Her lower eyelids rolled inward, which our amazing veterinarian was able to fix. She is still healing but is doing great! She is looking for a home to help her heal and learn good manners and cool tricks.

A crash Friday morning has traffic backed up on I-580 south as of 8 a.m.

The crash appears to have happened between the Highway 50 and Fairview exits.

It is not known at this time when the crash will be cleared. If possible, motorists should seek alternate routes.

After his promotion ceremony to Chief Warrant Officer 5 in Reno on Friday, Carson City resident Steve Nielsen compared his military career to a rare celestial event.

“Every star in the galaxy had to align just right for me to reach this point in my career,” said Nielsen, the longtime Nevada Army Guard aviator whose extraordinary life has included several brushes with death, behavioral health challenges and – as he attests – some unadulterated pure luck.

Police say a suspect is dead after reports of an active shooter situation at UNLV on Wednesday.

Officials are expected to release more details about the shooting, which unfolded a little before noon on the UNLV campus. UNLV officials said in an emergency notification at 12:45 p.m. that the suspect had been contained, while urging students to continue sheltering in place.

The Board of Directors of the Nevada Federation of Democratic Women (NVFDW) has launched the inaugural Annual Political Short Film Contest on Friday, December 1, 2023.

The contest will accept entries of up to 90-second videos promoting the NVFDW Platform and Democratic Credo from young adults and older who reside in the state of Nevada.
