Soon-to-be-graduating seniors and not as old as some may think teachers, an administrator, and coaches went head to head throughout the entire basketball game.

The Nevada Capitol Building in Carson City will be reopened to the public after being closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rotary Club of Carson City has a long history of helping local students achieve their goals through scholarships and other educational opportunities.

Through the Rotary Foundation the local service club has funded hundreds of thousands of dollars in local scholarships, donated to the Western Nevada College Library, as well as funded the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, and the Rotary Eighth Grade Leadership program.

Between Tuesday, May 25th and Friday, May 28th, 2021 several reports of damage to private residences and businesses in the Douglas County area have been reported. The damage appears to have been caused by a BB gun. A juvenile was even struck by a BB while walking from school.

Concerned citizens have reported numerous sightings or interactions with three possibly feral roaming dogs in the south and west areas of Carson City.

The dogs’ whereabouts suggests they are familiar with the Stewart Indian Colony area or could possibly be living there.

A motorcycle versus vehicle accident was reported Friday afternoon at 12:27 p.m. in front of the legislature building in Carson City.

According to dispatch the motorcycle hit the back of the vehicle and one person is laying on the ground.

First responders are currently enroute to the scene. Motorists must seek alternate routes.

The Good Neighbor program is hosting a volunteer training on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center in Minden.

CARSON CITY — Nearly 56 Carson High School (CHS) Seniors were recognized Tuesday night for collectively earning more than $5.2 million in scholarships (a number that will continue to rise). Their accomplishments, which highlighted the academic success of the Class of 2021, were celebrated in an awards ceremony, May 25, in the CHS Big Gym.

Matthew Hohl and the team at Michael Hohl Subaru recently presented a $15,000 check to kids from The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.

The donation is part of the Subaru ‘Share the Love’ event, a national initiative that spans November to January and contributes $250 from every car sale and lease to hometown charities. Subaru has donated more than $200 million to over 1400 charities in the past 13 years.

The gate on Ash Canyon Road, located at the trailhead for the Ash to Kings Trail, will be re-open beginning Wednesday, May 26 permitting motorized vehicle access.
