Carson and Mills Park Railroad opens Saturday for the 2021 summer season
The Carson City Railroad Association is happy to announce the opening of its 2021 summer operating season. The Carson and Mills Park Railroad train will be running in Carson City’s Mills Park beginning this Saturday, May 29, 2021.
The first train leaves around 11:30 am. The railroad generally operates every Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day, as well as during special events in the park. Tickets are $2 each. Children 3 and under are free.
We are also excited to announce that the Station will be back open this summer and the public is invited to come in and view the two model railroads. Facemasks are not required while riding the train, but we encourage physical distancing. CCRA would like to extend an invitation to families and other railroad enthusiasts to come down to Mills Park and enjoy a ride on our train any weekend this summer.
The Carson and Mills Park Railroad has delighted passengers in Carson City since 1982. Operated by CCRA volunteers, the two-foot gauge amusement railroad carries passengers during summer weekends.
Over the past winter, CCRA staff members have been working hard on the railroad’s Locomotive No. 1 by completing the installation of a new diesel engine. Staff has also been continuing to replace railroad ties in the park, a never ending and increasingly expensive task.
CCRA is always looking for new members and volunteers either to support the Carson and Mills Parking Railroad, or who are interesting in learning more about model railroading.
The train is also available for special events or private parties. Please contact us for additional information, and follow us with a 'like' on Facebook. CCRA is a non-profit, volunteer organization and your donations are always welcome. We look forward to see you! Go here for the website. For information call 775-877-2523.
