BBB warns consumers never to pay money to claim a prize. If anyone asks for money before delivering a prize, it is likely a scam.

CARSON CITY — Michael Brown, Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development Executive Director, thanked the 2021 Legislature on Friday for its work to enhance the State’s economic development and recovery plan.

Each year in the capital city for the past 28 years, local non-profit RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) has put on the community fireworks show for free, sometimes taking a financial loss in the process.

RSVP holds four fundraising events over the course of a normal, non-pandemic year; the Mother’s Day/Spring Celebration carnival, the fourth of July celebration and carnival, the Nevada Day carnival, and the Steppin’ Up For Seniors 5K/10K Run-Walk-Jog.

UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: Firefighters have arrived on scene and stated that the tree is on fire as part of an unauthorized controlled burn. Responders believe they will be on scene for approximately 30 minutes.

Firefighters and first responders were called to a brush fire Saturday night in the 500 block of East Appion Way.

The fire is 25 feet by 25 feet currently and a tree appears to be on fire in a field.

No structures are currently under threat according to dispatch.

Just before 4:15 p.m. Saturday a traffic accident was reported at the streets of Russell and Long.

Injuries at this time are unknown.

Residents at an East John Street apartment complex in Carson City were ordered to leave Friday afternoon due to health concerns after the Carson City Health Department discovered that the copper water and sewer piping underneath the complex had been stolen.

After one year of virtual classes, Partnership Carson City resumes its popular Wellness Yoga in person starting Monday, June 14.
