The stormy winter weather will continue overnight into Monday and Tuesday as the next system heads into the Sierra and Carson City area causing potential travel impacts for the region, according to the National weather Service.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Jan. 16-22, 2023. Closures are expected at the following locations due to road and utility work:

Mile High Jazz Band will present “Big Band Jazz at Gina's,” on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gina's Good Life Music and Lounge, 507 N. Carson Street inside the Carson Nugget.

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has appointed Alan Jenne as Director for the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW).

The appointment comes after Tony Wasley, NDOW Director of almost 10 years, retired in December ending a 25-year tenure with the agency.

The southbound lane is closed and the crash is blocking traffic.

Westbound lanes on Rand are also closed.

A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday evening on counts of burglary, gun possession, and car theft.

According to the arrest report, Randy Lee Bauman was arrested in connection to multiple burglary incidents going back to Oct. 2022.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is attempting to identify a vehicle and a driver in a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian that happened Tuesday evening, Jan. 10 near the intersection of Saliman Road and William Street.

The Carson City Moose Lodge in conjunction with The Blue Bull are hosting a Beer & Brats fundraising event. For just a $10 ticket, one can get a freshly grilled brat and two draft beers. A raffle will be held every half hour from noon to 3 p.m. Proceeds will support the Friends of Sutro Tunnel.

The Achilles Wheel show at Nashville Social Club in Carson City on Friday, Jan. 13 is canceled due to weather and potentially dangerous driving conditions for the band who must cross Donner Pass coming and going. Refunds have been issued in full to all ticket holders. We will try to reschedule soon.

At their first meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, the Carson City School District was pleased to welcome two new recently elected board members Trustee Matt Clapham, District 3, and Trustee Molly Walt, District 6. Lupe Ramirez and Richard Varner were also re-elected to their positions as trustees. Additionally, the board elected new officers to serve in leadership roles.
