It's been raining and snowing a lot in western Nevada and while everyone can appreciate the value of water in the spring and summer, it's been a helluva ride.

In December 2018, I moved out to the Dayton Valley Road ranchos, a beautiful rural residential area that lies between the magnificent Pine Nut mountains to the south and the vibrant Carson River to the north.

Wednesday will bring a few rain and snow showers around Carson City and surrounding areas, with a brief precipitation break Thursday and Friday before another potent storm system will move into the region by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

All the snow has made for some exciting times since last week, but our team really stepped it up to care for the horses. CARSON CITY — Due to the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety reporting severe weather and potentially dangerous road conditions, Governor Joe Lombardo has ordered an early closing for all state government offices in Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties Tuesday.

United Federal Credit Union was pleased to donate more than $1,420 to local families and organizations in northwest Nevada as part of the 2022 Pay It Forward initiative. As part of Pay It Forward, United provided $20 to every employee to give to a needy individual, family, or organization of their choice.

All 23 families have officially been barred from entering their apartments at Carson Pines in Carson City after they learned the upper floors of the buildings were being condemned by the city.

I agree wholeheartedly with current complaints about smow removal/abatement in Carson City.

The ordinances are apparently not being enforced.I know this the Wild West but come on man. The city needs to enforce these ordinances on clearing sidewalks.I am originally from Green Bay Wisconsin, and if you do not get your sidewalk sholved whether business or private the city would clear it for you at like 1 a foot.

Western Nevada College officials have decided to close its three campuses and the Child Development Center today, Jan. 10, because of snow and icy conditions. However, the college’s online winter session classes will proceed as scheduled.

As a result of the winter storm disrupting travel throughout the region, all Carson City School District schools will observe a delayed 2-hour schedule Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023. Buses will also operate on a 2-hour delay, so arrival times will be approximately 2-hours later than usual. There will be no Pre-School classes or breakfast served at school.

How many pedestrians must get injured or killed while walking the sidewalks here in Carson City? How many pedestrians will receive tickets for walking around the snow piles blocking sidewalks due to business allowing their contractors to do so? Lets look at the Carson City Ordinance first.

CARSON CITY — The state Transportation Board of Directors on Monday unanimously approved the appointment of Tracy Larkin-Thomason as the Director of the Nevada Department of Transportation. Larkin-Thomason will officially assume her new role as director on Jan. 17, 2023.

YERINGTON — On Monday, January 9, 2023, the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners met to issue a Declaration of Emergency for the ongoing winter weather events impacting the community. An Emergency Declaration gives governments the flexibility to quickly request resources necessary to respond to protect the health and safety of residents.
