Nevada Health Centers’ school-based health center in Carson City will offer COVID-19, flu and other select vaccinations to adults and children during a walk-in clinic Wednesday, May 11, from 9 to 11 a.m.

A photo taken Monday from a Carson City resident appears at first glance to look like, of all things, a dead tiger on the side of the road. The photo shows large paws and even stripes on the animal, similar to those of a tiger.

Congratulations to Carson High School World History, Human Geography, and Economics teacher Nicole Fagundes' Economics students who found a way to turn 8.5 percent inflation into a positive situation. Fagundes’ students researched the factors which determine inflation and the Consumer Price Index and predicted the March CPI of 8.5 percent.

On Saturday, May 7, 2022 at approximately 11:40 a.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Topaz Lake, Nevada for an overturned boat and several individuals in the water.

Walter D. Ratchford, age 89, passed away peacefully at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on March 30, 2022. He was born in Copley, Ohio, to Walter Patrick Ratchford and Eleanor Elizabeth Reese.

A fatal crash was reported Saturday afternoon in Dayton on Highway 50 near River Boat Drive. According to Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Division, a male driver died in the crash and the second driver was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Despite the gusty afternoon, Wine Walkers took the downtown streets on Saturday to support local businesses while sipping on vino.

The Carson City Wine Walk takes place on the first Saturday of every month, excluding winter.

Just before 1 p.m. a vehicle versus horse accident was reported on Highway 50 and Flint Drive.

Injuries are reported.

The crash happened in the westbound lanes.

The next Carson City School District School Board meeting will take place next Tuesday May 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.

Just after 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nevada State Police responded to Costco on report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

Two people appear to be trapped in the truck that roller, and blood is reported to be seen by the reporting party.

Pioneer Academy keeps on Growing!

When the local and regional Rotary club announced educational grants last year, Mrs. Steinkraus, Science and Engineering teacher at Pioneer Academy (Pioneer), responded by submitting an application to construct a greenhouse. And, in this, her third attempt to procure funding, she received news that Pioneer was awarded a grant that would cover the cost of the greenhouse structure.

Playwrite Neil Simon’s delightful classic “Barefoot in the Park” comes alive later this month in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall. The Neil Simon play tells the hilarious story of a newlywed couple, he a stuffy lawyer and she a free spirit, and their new life together in New York City.

Produced by the Proscenium Players, Inc, (PPI) performances take place May 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7:30 P.M. and May 22 and 29 at 2:00 P.M. in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall. Tickets are available for the upcoming production at www.breweryarts.org.
