April 16-22 is National Volunteer Week. This week is celebrated by Least Resistance Training Concepts, the all-volunteer Technical Large Animal Rescue Team working in the five counties surrounding Nevada’s Virginia Range. While we originated as a training organization supporting horse owners and public safety agencies, today LRTC is the most active large animal rescue team in the country. We respond to nearly 500 urgent calls per year.

The Carson City Host Lions Club will be hosting the Annual Kids’ Fishing Day at Baily Pond in Fuji Park on Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and provides a good opportunity to introduce kids under the age of 12 to fishing and conservation.
