Record snow throughout the state is stacking up to be one of the largest snowpack years in California’s recorded history, which could also raise waterways on national forests to unsafe levels. As of April 1, the snow water content for the state is at 241 percent of average, according to a recent survey by the California Department of Water Resources.

Rosetta (Ballard) McFadden passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2023, with her daughter at her side. She was 93 years old. She was born on Feb. 28, 1930 in Plains, Kansas to parents John Preston Ballard and Anna Lena (Shinogle) Ballard.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Tuesday afternoon to a crash involving two vehicles off Highway 50 East near Pick-n-Pull.

After numerous discussions and the revision of dog codes inside Carson City parks, Mills Park has now officially become a dog-friendly zone — so long as Fido and Spot remain on leash.

The change comes after many years-worth of issues regarding citizens bringing dogs into Mills Park, which, until the recent revision, was unauthorized.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development approved four companies that will receive $4,922,336 in tax abatements. In return, these companies are projected to create 85 jobs in the next two years at an average weighted hourly wage of $28.89. That figure is expected to grow to 134 in five years.

Nevada law clearly states that any use of a handheld electronic device — cell phone, mp3 player, GPS device, etc. — while driving is illegal. Nevada’s ban on handheld devices while driving went into effect January 1, 2012, and law enforcement continues to spot and cite offenders every day.
