Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team continues to enhance its capabilities for supporting critical needs within Douglas County. On April 24, 2022 seven members of the DCSAR team became qualified as Swift Water Rescue Technicians.

Carson High Speech and Debate had a busy Spring competition season, participating in online national rounds, the rotary speaking competition, and the national qualifier. At the Rotary competition, Jessica Knutson and Olivia VanReese Roering placed first and second at the club level event.

CARSON CITY — Daytime single lane closures will be in place on State Routes 207 and 341 in Douglas, Storey and Washoe counties beginning Monday, May 2 as the Nevada Department of Transportation replaces roadside drainage berms and guardrail.

The annual Nevada Day Golf Tournament was held Saturday with several teams coming out to support the silver state’s biggest celebration.

Over 25 teams signed up to support this annual event, which provides a portion of the funds raised to the high school bands throughout the state to assist with their travel to the Nevada Day Parade in October, while the remainder of the funds supports the Nevada Day Parade.

Sierra Lutheran High School treasured the opportunity to serve the community on Wednesday as the Carson City Christian school paused instruction for the day to partner with local schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations on a variety of service projects as part of its Spring Service and Fun Day.

Richard Stokes, retiring superintendent of the Carson City School District, will pass the superintendent torch to Andrew Feuling this July 1, 2022. The school board of trustees voted unanimously, 7-0, to offer the contract for superintendent to the district’s current fiscal services director at the April 6 special session school board meeting.

A proposed special use permit was discussed and approved at the Carson City Planning Commission Wednesday evening regarding a new veterans-preference workforce housing multi-family development on Roop Street near Northridge.

The proposed project, called Eagles Landing, includes 126 units total split between two parcels on either side of Northridge Drive off of Roop Street.
