NHP investigates wrong way crash on US-395 at Airport Road that killed Gardnerville woman
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 4:07 a.m., Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to reports of a wrong way crash on US-395 southbound and Airport Road in Minden.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a silver 2020 Ford F-150 pickup was driving wrong way (northbound in the southbound, number 1 travel lane). The front of the Ford struck the front of a silver 2017 Hyundai Accent sedan traveling southbound in the number 1 travel lane.
The driver of the Hyundai, Fallon Montanucci, a 22-year-old Gardnerville resident, succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased on scene. The front passenger of the Hyundai was extricated from the vehicle and transported by Care Flight to an area hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford, having incapacitating injuries, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital by Care Flight.
Impairment and speed are suspected factors in this crash.
