Welcome to the 2022 Gear Swap presented by Muscle Powered! This is a fundraising event for Muscle Powered, and is intended to be a kind of community yard sale specifically for “muscle-powered” gear: bicycles, bike parts, hiking and backpacking gear, skiing and snowshoeing equipment, and general outdoor gear.

In 2018 Mike Smith, a native Mississippian launched Ideas on Tap, a monthly humanities-based community discussions about important issues. Each program included a panel discussion featuring knowledgeable participants who presented a wide spectrum on the topic, as well as a chance for audience members to share their thoughts, and questions. Due to the lack of community support, and attendance I had to make the difficult decision to cease the monthly interactive conversations.

Douglas County will present its 2nd annual Autism Resource Fair on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Nevada added 5,400 jobs over the month as the state continues to recover from the COVID pandemic, according to the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s March 2022 economic report released Thursday. Employment is up 120,600 since March 2021, an annual increase of 9.1 percent. The total employment level in the state is 1,440,400.

Another round of storms will impact western Nevada and the Sierra late Friday into Saturday, bringing gusty valley winds and Sierra snow, followed by clearing on Easter Sunday before the potential for more stormy conditions again late Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners approved Wednesday the 2022-2023 Tentative Budget. The meeting lasted three hours with Comptroller Josh Foli presenting the budget to the Board. There is no firefighting or rescue helicopter assigned to the Lake Tahoe region on a dedicated, permanent basis, and Tahoe Douglas Fire Chief Scott Lindgren is trying to change that.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Precinct caucuses start at 10 a.m, and are to end by 11:30 a.m. The county convention will open at 1 p.m. and will end no later than 5:30 p.m.

The Carson City Historical Society presents a new exhibit, "If These Gowns Could Talk" that will cover Edwardian and Victorian fashions — the how and why of fashion along with a photographic exhibit of early Carson City around 1900.
