Carson City first responders awarded more than $47,000 from Firehouse Subs Foundation
Public Safety agencies in Carson City have been awarded more than $47,000 combined in life-saving equipment grants through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a press release said.
Foundation awards will be presented to members of the Carson City Fire Department (CCFD) and the Carson City Sheriff's Office (CCSO) on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Firehouse Subs, 3120 U.S. Highway 50 East at the corner of Airport Road.
Firehouse Foundation and corporate officers, along with area franchisees Patrick Lindsay and Damon Kreizenbeck, will be present to honor the local recipient agencies.
CCFD received a $46,000 ambulance chassis, the press release said, which will help ensure the agency is able to quickly respond to emergencies and provide medical assistance throughout the community.
CCSO, meanwhile, received a $1,300 automated external defibrillator (AED) as a part of the Foundation’s 1,000 AED Gift Campaign, commemorating Firehouse Subs’ 1000th restaurant opening. The awarded AEDs will help ensure officers are prepared to provide medical assistance if an individual goes into cardiac arrest.
Firehouse Subs founders established the Public Safety Foundation in 2005 in an effort to provide funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations.
Through non-profit 501(c)3 status, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given more than $23 million to hometown heroes in 46 states, Puerto Rico and Canada
More than $260,000 has been given in that time to first-responder agencies in Nevada.
Each restaurant recycles left-over, five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $2 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bills to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
