Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Sept. 27
Here is this week’s Carson City area road report for the week of Sept. 21-27, 2015: Beginning Monday through Thursday there will be flagger controlled traffic at the following locations due to utility work:
— Fleischmann Way between Mountain Street and Division Street.
— Mountain Street between Fleischmann Way and Long Street.
— Long Street between Mountain Street and Division Street.
— Division Street between John Street and Long Street.
— Sierra Circle.
— Hillside Way.
— Miller Way.
— Pine View Way.
— Lane Circle.
The Nevada Department of Transportation will continue bridge maintenance on the Carson City Freeway (I-580) with nightly lane closures and intermittent on and off ramp closures during weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
NDOT will also continue paving operations on I-580 in Washoe Valley. There will be nightly lane closures as well as weekend lane closures from Fridays at 7 p.m. through Mondays at 5:30 a.m. for the next several weeks from the North Carson Street interchange to the Bowers Mansion interchange (exit 50).
Due to a special event beginning Friday, Sept. 25, at 9 a.m. through Sunday afternoon, Sept. 27, there will be partial road closures on both Goni Road and Research Way south of College Parkway. Traffic control will be signed.
Race Track Road will continue to be closed between Bigelow Drive and Schulz Drive due to utility work. Detours will be signed.
The intersection of Cochise Street and Overland Street will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Detours will be signed.
Utility work will continue Monday through Thursday at the following locations:
— Shoulder work on Washington Street between Ormsby Boulevard and Mountain Street.
— Bulette Drive and Bunker Hill Drive will both be closed at Washington Street during daytime hours. Detours will be signed.
Due to sidewalk improvements, there will be lane closures at the following locations:
— Long Street between Carson Street and Stewart Street.
— The outside northbound lane on Carson Street between Park Street and Long Street.
— Fall Street at Long Street.
— Peters Street at Long Street.
The Nevada Department of Transportation will continue construction of drainage improvements on U.S. Highway 50 West between the two truck ramps (just west of U.S. 395 to Sierra Highlands Drive). There will be lane closures Monday through Friday, but the roadway will remain open to traffic in both directions.
Clear Creek Avenue remains closed to through traffic between Lynette Lane and Center Drive due to utility work. Detours are signed and the JAC bus stop on Clear Creek Avenue is temporarily relocated near the intersection of Frontage Road and Clear Creek Avenue.
Work on the construction of the Carson City Freeway continues. Please use caution in the areas around the construction site, particularly along S. Carson Street.
Around the Lake Tahoe Basin: Work continues on State Route 89 (Placer County) with a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to the "Y" junction with State Route 28 in Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2016.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter in some locations, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. The project will be completed this fall.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $8 million project from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue in Tahoma, installing curb and gutter and drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater. The highway will also be resurfaced. The project will be completed this fall.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway will be resurfaced. Completion is expected by spring 2017.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project is installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.
State Route 267 (Placer County): Work continues on a $5.2 million project to grind, pave and make drainage improvements to a nearly seven-mile stretch of State Route 267 from just north of Schaffer Mill Road to Brockway Summit. Completion is expected by the end of September.
