Carson City sheriff’s log: Officers make two unrelated felony warrant arrests

A 35-year-old transient, Richard Warren Mullens, was arrested Wednesday, 9:08 p.m. on a felony fugitive from justice warrant and three misdemeanor charges, a Carson City sheriff’s sergeant said.

According to the arrest report, the supervising officer assigned to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team was advised of a man walking in the roadway near the southbound onramp of the Carson City I-580 Freeway at College Parkway. The officer responded and observed a man hitchhiking.

The officer made contact with Mullens who advised he was hitchhiking from Seattle to Las Vegas. The officer asked permission to search him and the man agreed. He removed a black backpack and told the officer he had a marijuana pipe and marijuana in his bag.
The officer check with dispatch where it was learned he had an extraditable felony warrant for his arrest out of Montana. He was arrested and taken to jail and booked on the warrant charge, assault with a weapon. He also was charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and hitchhiking. Bail: $31,961.

In other arrests: A 31-year-old Carson City woman, Jennifer Marie Hames, was arrested Wednesday, 7:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Wagner Drive on a felony warrant alleging fraudulent use of a credit card, issued April 21, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.

— A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 7 p.m. in the 4500 block of Center Drive on suspicion of domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, the woman had become intoxicated and hit and elbowed her husband and son in the jaw when they attempted to help her. She had a preliminary breath test of a .233. Bail: $3,132.

— A 45-year-old transient was booked Wednesday, 9:52 a.m. into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor warrant, probation violation, issued April 9, 2015 out of Reno Muncipal Court. Bail: $1,500.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 7:45 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on suspicion of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, officers were called to Walmart regarding a woman who was detained for shoplifting and was being verbally uncooperative and threatening to run.
A deputy arrived and met with store security who observed the woman in various parts of the store opening product packages and placing the items in her purse. When she exited the front doors, the security employee approached her on the sidewalk and told her several times to come back to the store. She eventually complied, the arrest report states.

The officer read the woman her Miranda rights and she agreed to speak. She said she had no intention of stealing when she went into the store, however, after seeing things she liked she began to put them in her purse. She told the officer she knew it was wrong. During the search the officer found a tube of toothpaste in the woman’s waistband and a dress shoved down her front pants, the arrest report states.
The woman was asked how many times she had stolen from Walmart. The woman replied that she has stolen items at least three other times and that this was the first time she was caught. Bail: $352.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 5:25 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Edmonds Drive on two misdemeanor warrants for contempt of court, issued Nov. 5, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,500.

— A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 11:22 p.m. in the area of Fleischmann and Curry streets on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued March 18, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
