Carson City Toyota community challenge matches $10,000 in donations for Boys and Girls Clubs

Dick Campagni, owner of Carson City Toyota Scion and the Campagni Auto Group, issues an annual challenge to Carson City — he’ll match your donations to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada dollar for dollar up to $10,000 during the months of March and April.
This week, Campagni made good on that promise by presenting a check for $10,000 to match community donations.
Since the beginning of March, the Campagni Community Challenge has seen donations both large and small roll in. The Club raised $2,000 in less than 24 hours with Nevada’s Big Give, an online giving campaign March 23, bringing the total raised to just under $10,000. Donations are being accepted through the month of April.
“We believe in kids,” Campagni said. “They’re the future of our world. The Club teaches them safety and discipline and gives them an outlet, a place to enjoy, to learn and to have be protected. It’s even more important these days to keep them safe.”
Campagni said he has been an active participant with the Club for over 30 years, serving on the board of directors as far back as 1985, donating both time and money and encouraging and supporting his employees to serve as well.
“My wife and I feel strongly about giving back to the community,” he said. “We were raised that way and we truly feel tied to our community, which is why we challenge that community to give back too.”
Campagni has issued that challenge for the past four years running, with a total of 10 years overall.
Andie Wilson, who currently serves as the president of the board of directors for the Club, said the donations, both Campagni’s and the matching community funds, will be used to offset some operating costs for the Club, including some educational programs.
“We offer educational programs in five core areas: education and career, character and leadership, health and life skills, arts and sports, fitness and recreation,” she said. “Our programs are structured to provide homework help and technology training, as well as fostering a feeling of family among our members.”
Wilson said Club operations are costly, and the Club depends on the community for support.
“It costs a lot of money to operate the Club,” she said. “We are so grateful to our community partners like Dick Campagni and Carson City Toyota for helping us to keep the lights on and the kids fed, happy and engaged.”
