Join the fight against stormwater pollution in Lake Tahoe! The Tahoe Pipe Keepers will meet for volunteer training on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ski Run Marina, room 201 in South Lake Tahoe.

Heading into Thursday and the final stretch of the work week, it is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area featuring a morning hike along Clear Creek hosted by Muscle Powered, activities at the Carson City Library, western square dancing offered through Carson City Parks and Recreation, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, Ladies' Night Out at Gather, a volunteer information hour and training hosted by Carson City's CASA, a lecture entitled "100 Years Later: The 1919 Transcontinental Military Motor Convoy" featured at the Nevada State Museum, and more.

Coming up on the final stretch of the work week, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area, including a morning Tahoe Rim Trail hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, a Status of Women in Nevada meeting at the Carson Nugget, activities at the library including the first in a series of Job Seeking With Google workshops, plus the first of the three-day Rockabilly Riot car show at Mills Park and more. Imagine the experience of children who are removed from their homes due to allegations of abuse or neglect. These children find themselves in a world filled with social workers, lawyers, judges and courtrooms where life-altering decisions are made on their behalf.

The museum is recruiting for volunteers, who will get a multi-day in-depth jaunt through the museum’s collections and operations.

The Nevada State Museum was voted the best museum in rural Nevada by the readers of Nevada Magazine in 2018. It couldn’t have received that recognition without the cadre of volunteers who help out on a daily basis, said Director Myron Freedman.

CASA of Carson City is looking to expand its volunteer base. There are thousands of children in the State of Nevada residing in foster care currently. These children have been removed from their homes, their friends and they need a strong advocate to stand up for them and express their wishes.

Come learn what it means to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA! Carson City CASA is beginning their first volunteer training session of 2019. Would you like to advocate for children? Hello and happy Monday, Carson City. Today is Sept. 10, 2018. This morning kicks off the first of four days of volunteer training at the Nevada State Museum, and tonight Carson High School hosts its community-focused Back-to-School Night, “Open House, Open Hearts."

The Nevada State Museum in Carson City is recruiting volunteers with a love of history and learning to participate in a multi-day “New Tour Guide Training” program.

The Friends of the Nevada State Museum thanks everyone who attended, donated to, and participated in the sold out and overwhelmingly successful performance of their original production of A Night with Notorious Nevadans.

Due to the cold and ugly weather the past couple of days, Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as CASA, is again offering an information hour. Currently, there are over 100 children in the Carson City child welfare system. Less than 20 of those children are headed towards reunification with their parents.

With a dedicated mission to engage, inform and entertain a regional audience, KNVC community radio is broadcasting at 95.1 FM in Carson City, bringing a wide range of local tastes in music that reach the ears of listeners south into Douglas County and north through Washoe Valley.

CASA OF Carson City will begin new training for CASA volunteers Thursday, April 13, 6 to 9 p.m. at the CASA office in the Family Court Complex, 1539 E. Fifth St in Carson City. To access the office, drive to the back of the parking lot where a large CASA sign will be on the door.

Join us Wednesday, April 5 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the League to Save Lake Tahoe Education Center and Store for our Volunteerpalooza. We welcome all ages who want to learn more about the League’s programs and walk away with the ability to help League staff outreach and assist at events. Volunteers are the reason our programs are successful and we look forward to also awarding those special individuals that have been dedicated to the League, including our core volunteers. The autumn CASA Of CARSON CITY Volunteer training begins Thursday, October 6th - 6-9pm at the CASA of Carson City office, 1539 E. 5th Street.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to serve as guardian ad litem for a case of abused or neglected children in a child welfare court case. Being a CASA volunteer requires patience, caring, research, writing, speaking and follow-through. A background check, references, application, interview and 30 hours of training are required. CASA volunteers make a difference for very vulnerable children.

CASA of Carson City will hold the first class in a 10 week CASA volunteer training, Thursday, September 24, 6-9pm, at the CASA of Carson City office, 1539 E. 5th Street.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the Carson City Juvenile Court to serve as guardian ad litem for a case of abused or neglected children in a child welfare court case.

The new CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Carson City Volunteer Training class for the Summer Session will start on Sunday, June 21, 2-5pm. 10 classes total through summer at the CASA office 1539 E. Fifth.

Please feel free to tell anyone you know that has expressed an interest in CASA Volunteering that everyone is welcome to the first class. Current CASA Volunteers, Foster Parents, Social Workers, etc. are welcome and encouraged to attend the first class.
