Saturday – Monday: Take a ride on the Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine at the Nevada State Train Museum. Rides begin approximately every 40 minutes, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fares are $8 for ages 12 and over; $4 for ages 4 to 11 and Museum members; and FREE for ages 3 and under.

The Comstock Residents Association’s 6th Annual Labor Day Rummage Sale and BBQ is just around the corner! The event takes place on Saturday September 3rd and Sunday September 4 from 9am-5pm at the Silver City Park at 385 High Street (adjacent to the community center/school house).

You’ll meet some great people and find remarkable bargains on furniture, housewares, books, art and more.

The food is always good, with lots to choose from.

Live music sweetens the event, with performances by The Ukulocos, Bob Elston, Allander/Stornetta, Mylo McCormick, and others.

What Works: How the 10 Principles of Burning Man can help with business and career

This weekend, I volunteered my time at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Donned in fur and boots, I gave hugs and greeted Burners flying into Reno for Burning Man. I also imparted valuable information. I shared how to get supplies, travel to Black Rock Desert, and enjoy the festival.

Sunday, Aug. 28: What's happening around Carson City

Grab your cape, mask, and special side-kick and head to Tumbleweeds Gymnastics in Minden for their Superhero 5/10K. Hunt for underwater treasure at Sand Harbor with the High Desert Divers, all divers and snorkelers are invited. The Ferrari Hill Climb continues today in Virginia City if you feel the need for speed. Galaxy Theater brings another movie classic to the big screen today. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘The King and I’ 60th Anniversary Event plays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Senator Square: CHS teachers, staff and students lend a hand for community projects

Teachers and students at Carson High School are teaming up to accomplish some amazing community projects throughout Carson City and beyond. One of Carson High School’s own counselors, Nicki Hendee, along with CHS teacher Angila Golik and her honors government class, and a host of local businesses offering support, are collecting anything and everything to do with, of all things, diapers.

The kids deserve some fun for surviving their first week back at school, and Carson City delivers. The first annual Northern Nevada Family Fun Day takes over Mills Park with music, a kids zone, activities, food, raffles, and much more. It’s a ducky day to be a dog. The Nevada Humane Society’s annual Duck Race and Festival in downtown Reno raises funds for our area shelters and gives one lucky duck the chance to win a car. Splash Dogs at Heritage Park in Gardnerville has one last day of competitions for some talented pooches. Carson City, Nevada — To help launch the annual citywide Jazz & Beyond Festival, Capital City Arts Initiative will host artists selling their art at the Bliss Mansion prior to the 6:30 p.m. main concert. A 23-year-old Indian Hills man was arrested Sunday night for misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving without a valid driver’s license after racing in the parking lot of a South Carson Street restaurant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
