Not your grandma's bingo party at Carson City Senior Center
A bingo party fundraiser, featuring a 1980s theme, will be held Friday, Aug. 26 at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive in Carson City.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and bingo begins at 7 p.m.
The event is a benefit for Meals on Wheels and Sierra Therapeutic Equestrian Program (STEP), Inc., a non-profit equine therapy organization located in Southern Washoe Valley.
This is not your grandmother's bingo party, said STEP Business Coordinator Monica Marcinko.
Although the fundraiser is being held at the senior center, it is not meant to be a seniors-only event, she said.
"The Senior Center wants Carson City to know that when there is an event there, it isn't meant to be only for seniors," she said. "With this event, we actually want to target younger people."
The 1980s-themed party will feature a live DJ playing eighties music, an eighties costume contest, eighties trivia, raffels, prizes, food and refreshments, inclulding alcohol for sale.
Tickets cost $20 and include a pack of six bingo cards for up to eight games, as well as a $3 voucher for food and beverages. The event is for anyone aged 21 and over.
