Get your fill of sunshine today, we’ve got a wet wine walk weekend coming. The stars will be shining bright tonight, though, Western Nevada Musical Theater Company debuts its spring musical ‘Nice Work if You Can Get It’ complete with amazing choreography, melodies, and an exceptional cast. Cinco de Mayo parties all over town offer up food and drink specials, in addition to the fun times that can usually be found on a Friday night. Start the day with a cup of joe or a yummy blended drink at Dutch Brothers Coffee and you’ll be helping find a cure for ALS.

The Nevada Artists Association opens its annual "Landscape Show." The exhibit features the paintings, photographs, sculptures and fine crafts of local and regional NAA member artists. Carson City photographer, John Warden, is presenting a special showing of his work. His photography covers a wide and diverse range of subjects from around the world.

So many things deserve to be in this first sentence: do I mention the annual West Side Bike Month Cruiser Ride, make a Star Wars pun about May the Fourth, or focus on the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony? What I love most about Carson City is our ability to be outdoorsy, patriotic, geeky, and none of the above - all at the same time. If you don’t find something you absolutely have to check out in today’s “Things to Do”, please look at my list again in a day or two, or sometime next week.

Hang in there, Carson City, spring is coming. If you can make it through today you’ll be rewarded with warming temperatures, with Sunday starting a nice little run in the 70s. Celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting at Mills Park, and if you’re one of the first fifty arrivals you’ll get your own sapling to plant. Afterwards, take a stroll with the Carson City Historical Society and learn about the history of our big downtown trees. Tonight, Carson Comedy takes over the Carson Nugget and the Brewery Arts Center as Dan Gabriel and Chris Franjola bring the laughs.

In the world of used cars, there is used and then is Carson Car Center used.

"Our used inventory is different from other used inventory, because 80 percent of our cars are slightly pre-owned," said Carson Car Center General Manager Wayne Lew. "Used 2015, 2016 and 2017 cars make up the majority of the lot."

Eagle Valley Middle School’s FIRST LEGO League team, The Jedi Engineers, have returned from the FIRST World Festival Championships! FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen, inspires young people’s interest and participation in science and technology.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested on multiple charges including drug trafficking, conspiracy, furnishing drugs to a prisoner and burglary, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The big game tag application deadline may have come and gone, but you still have a chance at the hunt of a lifetime.

The public is invited to Run for the Roses with the Rotary Club of Carson City and watch the Kentucky Derby live on Saturday, May 6 at the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theater.

Holy moly, it’s going to be a busy weekend: busy and gorgeous out. A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Rummage and book sales, live music, a fun run and a half-marathon, comedy and so much more await you. Check out the list for all the ways to embrace the sunshine.

Have you ever had one of those weeks? Well, thank goodness it's Friday. Carson City will help you decompress and forget your troubles. Students, K-12 and University, will enjoy the free swim day at the Carson Hot Springs. The Carson Nugget is turning into quite the downtown hotspot with a different headlining comedian each Friday, in addition to live music in two places. Check out their newest offering, the Beer Bar, during tonight's grand opening. So much more awaits you today, you'll just have to see what strikes your fancy.

FRIDAY:

A benefit event to raise money for the surviving children of Heavenly Schwitchenberg, who died recently in a car accident, takes place today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Gold Canyon Cafe, 160 Main St., in Old Town Dayton.

Smack dab in the middle of April and the town is officially in its Spring thaw. Easter is on Sunday, so just about anywhere you go you’ll find the Bunny and an egg hunt. To make it easy, I’ve moved all of those events to their own everything Easter list HERE.

So much is happening this weekend, that breaking my weekend list up seemed like the only thing to do. Eggs galore, brunches, and family friendly fun is what you’ll find here. It may be April’s Fools Day, but the fun going on around town is no joke. Get your blood pumping with the Carson Canyon Half Marathon (or Half/Half Marathon if you want something shorter.) It’s Wine Walk weekend, and with the sunny day you have no reason to stay home. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers want to ‘Give Our Regards to Broadway’ during their one weekend only production. There’s too much to mention in this short opening paragraph, so keep reading for all the great things our valley and sister valleys have to offer.

Las Vegas Raiders jerseys will soon be on sale. The NFL owners approved the relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas in a 31-1 vote on Monday, culminating more than a year of efforts to lure the team to Sin City.

A Carson City man was arrested Thursday for felony suspicion of failure to comply with annual verification of being a tier 1 sex offender and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Shopping begins at 10am, Saturday, March 25, and corks will pop and wine will be poured 11am until 5pm. CVR Juniors will be selling baked goods and non-alcoholic beverages at the Rummage Sale, as well.

The CHSD Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Fox, participated in the Washoe County School District High School Orchestra Festival 2017 at UNR’s Nightingale Hall. Judges from Sacramento and the Bay Area rated this group alongside similar groups from the Reno and Sparks area.

Longtime Carson City residents Sam Landis, Rob McFadden, and Mark Turner announced they will break ground on Mills Landing, a town house community designed to bring affordable housing to Carson City, in a ground-breaking ceremony Wednesday, March 22 at 9 a.m. at 1428 State Street in Carson City.
