Leaves turning, wind blowing, and all things pumpkin sprouting up everywhere. It is absolutely autumn in Northern Nevada. Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Reader asks for help recovering stolen custom saddlery dressage saddle

My Custom Saddlery Wolfgang Expression dressage saddle was stolen from Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility in Washoe Valley, NV between Monday, Sept. 18th and Tuesday, Sept. 19th, 2017. This saddle is made of black buffalo leather with silver metallic piping and a black patent leather cantle. It measures a 17.5” seat. The serial #11762 is stamped on the left side under the flap.

My daily list of activities might be called ‘things to do in Carson City,’ but I frequently include happenings from the surrounding valleys. Today, it’s the Thirsty Third Thursday wine walk in downtown Gardnerville that gets the spotlight. Dayton’s weekly Farmers Market can be found this afternoon in front of ‘Community Roots’ on Highway 50. It’s probably past patio weather, but there is plenty of room inside of Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar for all of tonight’s karaoke lovers.

I’m going to suggest that you keep this weekend’s plans flexible. There’s only a chance of rain, but the chance of it showing up at the wrong time is always high. The very early morning is best spent watching the hot air balloons against the Reno skyline, but you’ll probably want a sweater for the pre-dawn chill. Head up the hill to Virginia City this weekend. Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada to host annual Yard Sale

The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada is having its yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will be in the museum’s parking lot located at 813 North Carson Street, Carson City.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Children’s Museum which is a nonprofit receiving no federal or state funding. We have received generous donations from the community of clothing, furniture, household items, artwork and many vintage items. We welcome all to come.

The 2017 pine nut harvest season kicks off on lands managed by the Nevada Bureau of Land Management and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Both agencies are working together to ensure the public is safely harvesting pine nuts and aware of the regulations.
