This year is no different as the town’s 2016 special events calendar includes fan favorites such as the International Camel and Ostrich Races, the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and several parades as well as a brand new event, a western rodeo in September.

Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7: Things to do around Carson City

Either way, today is the big game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. Carson City will be hopping with gridiron parties, beverages and hot wings at bars, restaurants, and casinos. Start the day with a pancake breakfast at the Elks Club. For those who aren’t a pigskin fan, consider playing a few rounds of bingo to benefit the Carson Animal Shelter Initiative.

Eagles and Agriculture is a once-a-year opportunity to see raptors that visit Carson Valley during the calving season each winter, including bald eagles.

Sierra Lutheran Hosts Mini Cheer Camp

Performance at a Girls Varsity Game is included in the program (Game starts at 4:00pm; the attendee’s family will be admitted at no cost). Students will learn cheers, a band dance, jumps, and participate in a craft. Cost is $35 per student ($25 for each additional sibling), and includes poms for girls, megaphones for boys, and a snack). There are enrollment openings for the Feb. 6-March 5, March 28-31 and April 16-May 7 sessions on the Carson City campus. Classes are planned March 28-31 and April 9-30 on the Douglas campus.

Comma Coffee is hosting a reception this evening for the January artist in their revolving Backseat Gallery, so head down at 5 p.m. for some finger food and the unveiling.
