A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the area of Goni and College Parkway on suspicion of being a sex offender failing to register, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Cooperative Extension Hosts Weed Warriors Basic Training

Bull riding Smackdown returns to Carson City

The Carson City Smackdown — featuring bull and bronc riding and barrel racing — is returning for the fourth year to Fuji Park.

“I’m really excited,” said promoter Manuel Souza. “It’s going to be a great show.” For the first time, Souza is bringing in a Professional Bull Riding arena to put inside the park.

Carson City Sheriff's Office Motor Unit offers advanced course for motorcycle riders

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Motor Unit will offer an advanced course for motorcycle riders on June 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This class is limited to the first 12 riders who sign up.

Riders will learn techniques and skills used by motor officers. Your instructors will be Carson City Sheriff's Office motor deputies assigned to the Motor Unit. All proceeds go to the Motor Unit training fund.

Carson City deputies make felony domestic battery, sex offender registration arrests

A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday on suspicion of felony domestic battery after law officers were called to a Winnie Lane apartment, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

City manager outlines current emergency preparedness plan

The Nevada state capital has seen its share of natural disasters and citywide emergencies.

From wildfires to flooding and all-too-common high wind events, Carson City Manager Nick Marano says local government is ready to respond at a moment's notice.

"The city has an emergency operations plan," Marano said. "We've gone through several rounds of modifications to it."

There is an emergency operations center, he said, that enhances communication between public safety and public works departments during local emergencies.
