SolidWorks 3-D software class offered through Western Nevada College
A new SolidWorks 3-D software class is being offered at Western Nevada College this spring to provide the technical skills that many area employers are seeking. Classes meet on Tuesdays at either 1-3:45 p.m., or 7-9:45 p.m., beginning Tues, Jan. 25.
The Computer Aided Drafting Design course featuring SolidWorks 3-D software will help students meet the rising demand of companies that want their technicians, engineers and designers to be proficient in this software. No prior experience with the software is required to enroll in the class.
“It's a big deal to have SolidWorks 3-D for for college credit available to our Industrial Technology students, including those in Machine Tool, Welding, Construction Management and Automotive,” said WNC Professor of Electronics and Industrial Technology Emily Howarth. "We are providing this instruction in response to employer requests,” she said.
Participants will learn to use the SolidWorks 3-D interface and tools to become proficient 3-D modelers, increasing their ability to create and deliver designs, modifications and prototypes.“
“This is a high-demand technical skill to add to a resume,” Howarth said.
Instructors will introduce students to SolidWorks 3-D and provide training and instruction in using this parametric solid-modeling software to create parts, assemblies and working drawings.
