Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed for kicking officer after being told to leave bar

A 39-year-old Minden man was arrested Friday night on a felony battery charge after resisting and allegedly kicking an officer when he was asked to leave a North Carson Street bar because he was intoxicated and causing problems, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Andrew James Hettrick, 39, also faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest and was tasered in order for officers to gain control of him. A woman with him was also arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest report, Hettrick and the female companion refused to leave the bar and deputies were called in to assist. The suspects, feeling that deputies had no right to ask them to leave, began yelling at the responding officers with Hettrick making physical contact with one of the deputies into the chest area.

As a struggle began between the deputy and Hettrick, the female companion intervened and had to be placed into handcuffs, the arrest report states. The male suspect began kicking at officers, striking one of them before a taser was used to subdue him. Hettrick’s bail: $30,300. His female companion was placed into custody for misdemeanor obstructing/resisting. Her bail: $300.
