Carson City arrests: Man jailed on suspicion of failing to register as sex offender

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the area of Goni and College Parkway on suspicion of being a sex offender failing to register, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Kyle William Krites was taken into custody at 4:39 p.m. According to the arrest report, a deputy with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team was patrolling in an unmarked vehicle and observed a vehicle traveling west on College Parkway, passing the patrol unit, going 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.

The vehicle was stopped and the officer made contact with the female driver. Two other passengers were in the vehicle, including Krites. The deputy ran their names through dispatch with Krites returning that he was a sex offender that required registration with the sheriff’s office.

Dispatch advised he last registered at an address in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain. Dispatch advised that as of May 20, he had moved from the Lone Mountain address and failed to update his living status with the sheriff’s office, the arrest report states.

Last month, on May 19, SET units assisted the Nevada Sex Offender Task Force in conducting compliance checks within the Carson City limits. Krites was on the list and contact was not made. Units verified he had moved out of the apartment about a month prior to the compliance check, the arrest report states. Bail: $5,000.

In other arrests:
— 24-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was taken into custody Saturday, 10:35 p.m. in the area of South Carson and Rhodes streets on misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, possession of marijuana and failure to maintain a lane of traffic.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area for a possible DUI. A reporting witness called dispatch to report a possible drunk driver headed southbound on I-580 and Arrowhead.

The vehicle was stopped after it was determined the driver failed to maintain a traffic lane. The driver was detained. Officers found open containers of alcohol in the vehicle and the passenger handed the officer a marijuana pipe. Marijuana was found in the center console of the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The driver had red watery eyes and the officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from her. The officer asked if she had any alcohol to drink and she said she had two or three beers earlier. She was asked if she would participate in field sobriety tests and she consented. She completed the tests and demonstrated impairment. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a sample of .176 and was arrested. Bail: $2,156.

— A 27-year-old transient was arrested Saturday, 4:01 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street on misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny and trespassing. The man was eating from a container of fried chicken from the warming oven inside the store. He stated that he had paid for the chicken but could not produce a receipt. He then admitted that he had not paid for it and didn’t have money to pay for it. Loss prevention said the man had been cited last week for petit larceny and was trespassed from the store. Bail: $594.

— A 21-year-old Carson City woman as arrested Saturday, 4:40 p.m. in the area of Goni and College Parkway on misdemeanor suspicion of disorderly conduct. Bail: $242.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 3 a.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor domestic battery warrant issued Dec. 13, 2013 out of East Fork Township.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a casino in regards to an intoxicated female who was refusing to leave. Officers made contact with the female and her boyfriend. Dispatch advised there was an arrest warrant for the man. He was taken into custody and released later on his own recognizance after being booked, as directed on the warrant, the arrest report states.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:53 p.m. in the 400 block of North Richmond on a misdemeanor warrant for domestic battery issued May 31, 2016. Bail: $3,000.

— A Carson City man was arrested Sunday in the 3100 block of Minonee Lane on misdemeanor suspicion hit and run and second offense DUI.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a hit and run crash. Arriving deputies met with the victim who was standing next to her vehicle with several family members.

The officer saw a highly intoxicated man who kept interrupting when the officer was asking the victim questions. After speaking with several witnesses it was determine the male subject hit the victim’s car with his own and then drove away, the arrest report states.
The suspect turned and began walking away when the arresting deputy asked him how many alcoholic beverages he had consumed, the arrest report states.

The man refused to obey commands and walked to a chain link fence that borders his front yard. He was arrested for DUI and hit and run. He was too intoxicated to attempt any field sobriety tests but did supply a breath sample of .382, the arrest report states. He was medically cleared from the hospital for having an extremely high blood alcohol content and taken to jail. Bail: $3,137.

— A 38-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested Sunday, 3:50 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear, issued May 21, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,100.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports and cases from citizens scammed during fraudulent business transactions.

The suspect in the shooting of two Silver Springs, NV residents on June 26, 2024 has been positively identified as 53 year old Silver Springs resident Stephen Thomas Shytle. At this time, Shytle’s whereabouts are unknown.

Just before noon a fire was reported on BLM land in Brunswick Canyon.

According to Fire Chief Sean Slamon, it is a vegetation fire in a remote part of Brunswick Canyon.
