Carson City Sheriff's Office among agencies to participate in Relay for Life
On May 21, 2016, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” to be held at Mills Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. This year, more than 1.6 million individuals in the United States are expected to hear the words “You have cancer.”
Those affected by this disease may be a co-worker, a friend or a loved one. Two of our co-workers here at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office were diagnosed with cancer and this is one reason why they are involved in the Relay for Life.
They could never have imagined that this would happen to them and emotionally, it brought them to their knees. There are many different types of cancer that affect people of all ages, race and color. You can help fight this disease by making a donation, volunteering or providing an item to raffle at this year’s event.
The American Cancer Society “Relay for Life” is the world’s largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and take action to finish the fight once and for all.
To participate in the walk, volunteer time, make a donation or for more information, contact Sharon Daniels or Kip Lee at 887-2500. Together, we can win the fight against cancer.
