Grandmother jailed for child neglect after leaving children in van while she shopped

A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of child neglect after leaving two children inside a parked vehicle while she shopped inside a store, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested was Lilia Gutierrez. She faces two felony charges of child neglect and endangerment with a bail of $5,000.

Carson City sheriff’s weekend arrest log: Several booked for DUI charges

A Carson City man in custody after an incident Thursday, faces a felony charge of being in possession of a credit card without consent. Andre Anthony Franklin, 22, was found to be in possession of a master card debit card with a woman’s name on it.

The woman, who is also an inmate at Carson City Jail, said only one person was supposed to have the card and when she learned it was lost, the card was canceled and she was given a new one.

Carson City man jailed on felony grand larceny charge after wallet not returned to owner

A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on felony suspicion of grand larceny after allegedly stealing a wallet a customer left behind at a pizza restaurant in February and then not returning it, a Carson City sheriff’s detective said.

Patrick Michael Murray, 31, was taken into custody at 11 a.m. in the 1400 block of East William Street with a bail of $25,000. Murray told the investigator during an interview that he called the owner of the wallet and said she had already picked it up but then later changed his story, saying he sent the wallet to her in the mail, according Detective Sam Hatley.

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the area of Century Circle on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery in which a witness told officers they observed the suspect use a belt to drag a woman into the residence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the home and heard the couple arguing inside the residence, followed by a loud noise and observed the wall to the home flex outward.

Legislative aide jailed after interfering with deputy following DUI crash

A 29-year-old Carson City man, who listed his occupation as a legislative assistant, was arrested early Sunday morning in the 800 block of South Saliman Road on misdemeanor charges of obstructing and delaying an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City firefighters respond to structure fire at Long Street residence

Carson City Fire Department were called this afternoon to a structure fire at 1600 Long Street. Fire Department personnel arrived and called it a working incident with multiple units responding. It appears that no one was home at the time of the fire, or at least escaped when the fire started, according to firefighters on scene.
Neighbors said the home is occupied by one person.

Black smoke was seen coming from inside, alerting neighbors to call 911. Dispatch was alerted to the fire at 1:22 p.m. Firefighters made entry into the home and doused whatever flames were inside.

Carson City job fair to be biggest yet with 55 employers signed on

Shaping up to be the largest job fair ever in Carson City, 55 area employers and 15 employment and educational agencies have signed on for Friday’s event at the Carson City Community Center.

The Feb. 27 fair, hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services in partnership with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce runs from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The fair will offer an early 1:30 p.m. admission for all veterans.

Carson City Health and Human Services extends hours for measles vaccinations

Carson City Health and Human Services is offering extended walk-in immunization hours for those that have never been vaccinated against measles or are unsure of their vaccination status. Clinic hours at the 900 E. Long Street facility will be extended to 6 p.m. Thursday Feb. 19 and Feb. 26. No appointment needed.

A 67-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday on felony suspicion of auto burglary after allegedly stealing a tool box from the back of a truck in the 400 block of Pratt Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Darrell Fisher also faces a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny after allegedly stealing a bicycle from a North Roop Street residence. He allegedly committed the crimes within an hour after being released from Carson City Jail, according to the arrest report.

Flu rate soars in Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties; anti-viral treatment recommended

According to the recent CDC Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report, the number of reported flu cases in Carson City, and Douglas and Lyon counties is higher than the national baseline. Dustin Boothe, Epidemiologist at CCHHS, identified a 53 percent increase in documented flu cases in the tri-county region over last year’s numbers.

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 6:52 a.m. in the 3300 block of East Nye Lane on a misdemeanor charge of DUI and minor consuming alcohol, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the area regarding a suspicious vehicle. The suspect told deputies he had eight beers and pulled his car over to sleep.

According to the arrest report, an officer stopped the bicyclist for not having a head lamp after he was observed crossing Highway 50 East in front of a casino.

The Centers for Disease Control announced Monday that flu cases surpassed the “epidemic threshold” last week, reminding U.S. citizens to get the flu vaccine now as the best chance to avoid illness.
And cases in Nevada are increasing as well, resulting in local warnings to get vaccinated sooner than later.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Two jailed on separate felony drug charges

A 20-year-old Carson City man was jailed Thursday, 11:46 p.m. on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine. The arrest came after a reporting witness advised there was a suspicious vehicle in the area of Molly and Millennium streets with occupants inside doing drugs.

Officers located the vehicle and found a man, Jael Alexis Alvarez, walking away from it toward Long Street. The man was ordered to stop walking three separate times before he stopped, the arrest report states.

Free flu shot vouchers available through Carson City Health and Human Services

Carson City Health and Human Services is offering free flu shot vouchers to anyone who donates two cans of food between Jan. 5 and 9, 2015.

The vouchers are redeemable at Carson City Health and Human Services, 900 East Long Street, any Thursday in January from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m., while supplies last. The food will be donated to Friends in Service Helping.

Care Flight called after injury accident reported at Stewart and Adams

UPDATE 7:03PM: The female driver of a Pontiac Sunfire was flown by Care Flight tonight after an accident at Stewart and Adams streets. An adult female occupant was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Two small children inside the car were not injured, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy.

Care Flight landed at the Carson City Senior Center. The accident was a t-bone collision where the driver of an older model red Mustang collided with the vehicle as it was pulling from the stop sign into the intersection, officers said.

A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night on felony domestic battery charges after allegedly choking his pregnant wife, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Damien Gabriel Dominguez was arrested and then released later on $15,000 bail following the incident.

A 27-year-old Carson City woman, wanted on a felony warrant, was arrested early Sunday after giving officers the name of her roommate and then running from them early Sunday morning in the area of William and Rand streets, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Kayla Lynn Olson was caught near Long Street and Wendy Lane at 1:12 a.m. after having jumped over fences in a foot pursuit with deputies, according to the arrest report. The woman was contacted after having crossed William Street with two others.

Two in custody, two patrol vehicles damaged after brief pursuit

Two are in custody this Monday afternoon after a brief pursuit that ended when a vehicle crashed into two Carson City sheriff's patrol vehicles.

The incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. with the suspects being arrested at the intersection of Molly and Millennium streets in a housing complex located off of East Long Street. None of the officers were injured. A taser was deployed after one of the suspects attempted to flee.

Carson City weekend arrests include DUIs, domestic battery and bench warrants

A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:21 a.m. in the area of North Plaza and East Caroline streets on misdemeanor charges of being an intoxicated pedestrian, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest with violence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Carson Street for a vehicle accident in a parking lot. Dispatch alerted officers that the subjects involved in the accident were confrontational and getting violent with casino security.

Bail: $20,687.

Carson City woman jailed on battery charge after fight with roommate over rent money

A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday in the 3100 block of Airport Road on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery after allegedly punching her roommate after she asked about rent money, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Officers were called to the apartment location at around 4:40 p.m. and met with the female victim who said her roommate grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face when she went to speak with her about payment of rent.

According to the arrest report, deputies with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team were in the area and observed a dark color sedan with nonfunctioning license plate lights.

Mark Twain Elementary lockdown lifted after juveniles run from officers

UPDATE 1:30PM: The second juvenile who ran from sheriff's deputies this morning has been located. Officers are meeting with him and his parents, according to dispatch. He had led officers on a foot pursuit that went through neighborhoods, over fences and through backyards, and briefly led to a lock down at Mark Twain Elementary after the teenager was seen running through the school.

Authorities were called earlier to a business on Long Street after two juveniles were harassing owners and customers. When officers attempted to make contact with the juveniles, they ran.
