Carson City firefighters respond to structure fire at Long Street residence
Carson City Fire Department were called this afternoon to a structure fire at 1600 Long Street. Fire Department personnel arrived and called it a working incident with multiple units responding. It appears that no one was home at the time of the fire, or at least escaped when the fire started, according to firefighters on scene.
Neighbors said the home is occupied by one person.
Black smoke was seen coming from inside, alerting neighbors to call 911. Dispatch was alerted to the fire at 1:22 p.m. Firefighters made entry into the home and doused whatever flames were inside.
Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called to do traffic control around the fire scene. Red Cross was called to assist the person whose home was damaged by the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. We will update as more information becomes available.
