Carson City arrest log: Woman jailed on three felony counts after foot pursuit with officers

A 27-year-old Carson City woman, wanted on a felony warrant, was arrested early Sunday after giving officers the name of her roommate and then running from them early Sunday morning in the area of William and Rand streets, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Kayla Lynn Olson was caught near Long Street and Wendy Lane at 1:12 a.m. after having jumped over fences in a foot pursuit with deputies, according to the arrest report. The woman was contacted after having crossed William Street with two others.

She was asked to identify herself. She gave officers a name and told them she did not know her Social Security number but that she was born in California. The officers asked the woman what her Social Security number begins with. The woman replied with a number, which, the arresting officer notes, does not apply to those born in California.

The officer told the woman she was being detained for questioning. And that is when she took off running, subsequently being caught. Officers then read Olson her Miranda rights and she agreed to speak. She said she gave them the name of her roommate instead of her own.

She faces two felony charges of parole and probation violation and a warrant out of Washoe County for providing false identification, issued April 22, 2014, and a felony for providing Carson City sheriff’s deputies with false information. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest after fleeing the scene. She is being held without bail on the parole and probation violation charge pending a hearing. Bail for the local charges: $20,337.

The woman allegedly struck a Capital City Patrol vehicle in a casino parking lot.

The woman was read her Miranda rights and asked what happened. She told officers she was at a downtown bar drinking, and that she also had a 40 ounce Miller High Life and two shots of whiskey.

The woman was asked if she would perform field sobriety tests. She agreed, showing multiple signs of impairment and blew a .105 preliminary breath test. A check through dispatch showed she had a “no bail” warrant for her arrest issued out of Reno Municipal Court. She was taken to jail.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 3:38 p.m in the 600 block of North Walsh Street on a misdemeanor charge of suspicion of DUI first offense. According to the arrest report, a reporting witness called into dispatch of a possible drunk driver “all over the road,” the arrest report states.

The reporting witness followed the vehicle until officers caught up with it and then followed it, where the driver showed signs of erratic driving. The officer activated his overhead lights, but the woman continued driving, jumping a curb at Robinson and Walsh streets.

The woman eventually stopped and the deputy met with her, noticing a smell of alcohol emanating from her. He asked if she had been drinking. The woman replied she had not. The officer advised that he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. The officer asked a second time if she had been drinking and the woman asserted she had not.

She performed field sobriety tests and during the breath test, she blew a .141, the arrest report states. The woman admitted to drinking wine while in Tahoe and that she also consumed codeine, the arrest report states. At jail she was advised of whether she wanted to give a breath test or a blood test. The woman voluntarily selected a blood test. Bail: $1,137.

— A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 8:13 p.m. in the 3600 block of Goni Road on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. Bail: $242.

A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 7:05 p.m. in the area of Long and Fall streets on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and defrauding a bar. According to the arrest report, the man did not pay his $6.50 tab at a bar in the 300 block of East William Street. The bartender reported the man ordered a beer and a shot and alcohol and then refused to pay for the bill. When the bartender advised that she was going to call the sheriff’s office for refusing to pay, he became angry, thew two ashtrays at patrons and then left. He was located in a parking lot and arrested. He provided a preliminary breath test of .285.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges in this crime report are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
