Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed on suspicion of domestic battery

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the area of Century Circle on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery in which a witness told officers they observed the suspect use a belt to drag a woman into the residence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the home and heard the couple arguing inside the residence, followed by a loud noise and observed the wall to the home flex outward.

Officers spoke with a witness who said they saw the man and woman arguing in the driveway. The witness said the man took off his shirt as if he was going to fight the woman, and then observed the suspect take a belt and put it around the woman’s neck and pulled her back into the house. The witness called 911.

The suspect told officers that the couple had been in a dating relationship for about a year, and confirmed the two were arguing. He said his girlfriend called him a “moron” and that caused him to be extremely angry.

He told officers that he never put his hands on the woman and said he tried to hug here as they went into the house but never put anything around her neck. He said once in the house he punched the wall. Officers observed three of the man’s knuckles on his left hand were bleeding.

Deputies then spoke with the victim who confirmed they were in a relationship and lived together. She said the two had been arguing but denied anything physical happened. She denied she was pulled into the house with a belt. Officers observed the woman to have redness on the right side of her neck and collarbone, the arrest report states.
Based on the witness statements and the redness on the woman’s neck, officers determined the man to be the primary aggressor and he was arrested. Bail: $3,137.
