A 20-year-old Carson City man was jailed Thursday, 11:46 p.m. on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine. The arrest came after a reporting witness advised there was a suspicious vehicle in the area of Molly and Millennium streets with occupants inside doing drugs.
Officers located the vehicle and found a man, Jael Alexis Alvarez, walking away from it toward Long Street. The man was ordered to stop walking three separate times before he stopped, the arrest report states.
Alvarez was detained and asked if he had anything that would poke or hurt officers during a pat down weapons search. The man said he had a hypodermic needle in his pocket. The officer located headphones but not a needle, the arrest report states.
The officer asked the man if he could search other pockets. The man said the officer could not. The officer then began the process of getting a telephonic search warrant and called the district attorney’s office. While speaking to the DAs office, the man said he had a “20 sack” of methamphetamine inside the right front pocket of his jacket, the arrest report states.
The officer asked if he could look for it and remove it from his pocket. Alvarez replied yes, and gave the officer consent. A small baggie of methamphetamine was recovered and the man was booked into jail. Bail: $2,500.
