It’s an out-of-this-world Alien Santa at the annual Zen Christmas at A to Zen. A cookie-loving Santa can be found at Adele’s during their annual toy drive for the Ron Wood Resource Center. If your ‘kids’ are the four-legged kind, then head over to PetSmart or Paws to Pur-fection Dog Grooming for your holiday photos. In addition to the Santa-mania, you’ll find a downtown Carson Beer Crawl, two plays at the Brewery Arts Center, and plenty of music.

Stay downtown for comedy at the Carson Nugget, Improv at the Brewery Arts Center, or a live DJ at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar and at Battle Born Social. Earn yourself a second helping of pie by participating in the annual Turkey Trot. In Carson City, you’ll start the 5K or 8K run at the Governor’s Mansion on Mountain Street. If you’re in the Carson Valley, head to Minden Park for their inaugural 5K.

Alpine County rivers and streams have also officially closed for the season. With the exception of the East Carson River that flows form Hangman's Bridge to the Nevada state line, this section is open all year with special regulations.

Nov. 15 is the final day to fish rivers and streams in Alpine County and much of the Sierra. Lake fishing, however, will remain open through the winter season for some but not all Sierra lakes. In a later article, we will discuss the joys of ice fishing.
Successful Pet Food Drive at Michael Hohl’s

This year the public, employees and customers filled the new Chevy pickup on the showroom floor with over 2,460 pounds of pet food.
