Carson City sheriff's crime log: Man jailed for suspicion of sexual assault

A 56-year-old man was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail for a felony warrant alleging sexual assault, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Brett Thornton of Seaside, Calif., was extradited to Carson City after being arrested in Monterey County, Calif. The warrant was issued Sept. 13, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $100,000 bondable.

In other arrests:
— A 38-year-old Carson City man, William Sutherland, was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail on a parole and probation warrant issued Nov. 16, 2017. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— 34-year-old Long Beach, Calif., man, Aaron Samuel Clack, was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail for a felony violation of parole warrant issued Oct. 31, 2017 out the Department of Parole and Probation. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 21-year-old Silver Springs woman was arrested early Friday, 2:42 a.m. in the area of East Proctor and North Plaza streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made after a deputy observed the driver going south on a one way street that only travels northbound.
The woman consented to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a breath sample of .174 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.

— A 54-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 9:30 p.m in the 3200 block of Market Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant and suspicion of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, the woman attempted to steal a pair of boots from Walmart without paying for them. A records check showed the woman to have a contempt of court warrant issued with a $500 cash only bail. Bail: $852.

— A 31 year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 12:44 p.m. in the area of Division and William streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, driving on a suspended registration, no proof of insurance and a tail lamp violation.

According to the arrest report, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop after observing a vehicle not having its left brake light illuminated. The driver went approximately 3 blocks without pulling over when the officer had his red and blue emergency lights and siren activated.

The officer made contact with the driver and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The officer asked the woman if she had any alcohol to drink. The woman said she did not and said it was probably coming from the fish tank on the rear seat of the vehicle. She was asked again if she had anything to drink and woman said she had a Bloody Mary earlier in the morning, the arrest report states.

The woman consented to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .164 and was arrested. At jail she provided evidentiary breath samples of .113 and .105. Bail total: $2,058.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 5:26 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $3,000.

— A 25-year-old transient was booked into jail Thursday, 2:15 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Nov. 1, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 55-year-old Minden man was booked into jail Thursday, 2 p.m. for a misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrant issued Nov. 27, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $855.

— A 36-year-old transient was booked into jail Thursday, 10:50 a.m. for a misdemeanor criminal contempt warrant issued Nov. 14, 2017 out of Sparks Township Court. Bail: $525.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 1:54 p.m. in area of Fifth and Carson River Road for misdemeanor suspicion of driving on a suspended license, no vehicle insurance and a stop sign violation. Bail: $1,486.

— A 33-year-old transient was arrested Thursday, 1:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Highway 50 East for misdemeanor suspicion of disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report, the intoxicated man was bothering customers throughout the day at different locations. He provided a preliminary breath test of .233. Bail: $242.

— A 30-year-old transient was arrested Thursday, 11:19 a.m. at Mills Park for misdemeanor possession of alcohol in the park and disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report, the man was verbally abusive to people in the parking, yelling that he was going to kill everyone. Bystanders said the man took off all his clothes except for his underwear. A deputy contacted the man. He provided a preliminary breath test of .15. Bail: $354.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Chase Patrick Morse, was arrested Wednesday, 8:06 p.m. for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637. A 21-year-old Carson City woman with him was arrested Wednesday, 7:57 p.m. in the 2800 block of Century Drive for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, no proof of insurance, no valid license and a broken tail light violation. Bail: $4,001.

According to the Secretary of State's Office, 65.63% of registered voters in the capital city came out to cast their ballots, the majority of which utilized early voting (44.69%), followed by mail-in ballots (43.28%), and finally rounding out the last of the voters on election day (12.03%).

While time is up for the polls, which were scheduled to close at 7 p.m., if voters were in line before the cut off they will be allowed to vote. We will update the results as they come in. Carson City polls could take a couple hours to turn in their results.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office detectives traveled to the state of Utah where they arrested Robert Richards for the murder of Sara Filiatraut. Since that time, Richards has been in custody in Utah pending extradition to Lyon County.
