Friday's annual Carson City Empty Bowls project featured on It's Your City
A cherished holiday tradition in Carson City, It's Your City host Cortney Bloomer talks with Debbie Anderson about the Empty Bowls project.
The annual event, which began in Michigan in 1990 and started locally six years ago by artist and Carson City Art Gallery owner Robin McGregor, returns this Friday, Dec. 1, 5 to 8 p.m. at Carson City Hall, 201 N Carson St.

Anderson, owner of Turtle Mountain Designs, and many other artisans around Carson City, including Ogres-Holm Pottery at the Carson Mall, spent much of 2017 hosting bowl making events.
The basic premise is simple: artisans donate bowls made throughout the year, restaurants donate soup and bread, the public makes a minimum donation, chooses a bowl or bowls, has it filled with soup, and then takes the bowl home with them to remind them of the empty bowls in their community.
Proceeds from the project benefit Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH. Tickets are available at FISH and at the event.
Empty Bowls coincides with Friday's Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights happening in downtown Carson City.
This week's edition of It's Your City is sponsored by Paradise Salon, Spa and Wellness, located at 3430 Executive Pointe Way.
It's Your City is a weekly program produced by Darla Bayer and hosted by Cortney Bloomer. The program features news, events and happenings around Carson City. If your business would like to sponsor a program, contact Darla at DarlaEdits2@gmail.com or (775) 830-7939.
