Nevada law enforcement agencies begin boating under the influence crackdown

CARSON CITY — Law enforcement officers across Nevada will be on heightened alert for those violating boating under the influence laws during the annual Operation Dry Water weekend, June 29-July 1, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

Highway 395 near Topaz Lodge reopened

UPDATE 3:51PM: Progress was made cleaning up the massive debris flows caused by a mudslide Monday across Highway 395. With help from the Nevada Department of Transportation Highway 395 is now open. The Douglas County Road Department, Town of Minden and the Town of Gardnerville made progress on Topaz Park Road and it remains open.

In an effort to keep Carson City safe from pet infectious diseases Pets of the Homeless is sponsoring a free pet wellness clinic. The clinic will be held at FISH, 138 E. Long St. on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The clinic will start at 9 a.m. the first 100 pets will be seen by veterinarians and their staff from Sierra Veterinary Hospital, Timberline Animal Hospital, Carson City Animal Shelter. As an added service, Pets of the Homeless will be sponsoring the free spay/neuters through CASI’s Critter Fixer program.

Carson City panel discusses risk factors of child abuse, neglect

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month nationwide and throughout Nevada. In Carson City, volunteers recently planted hundreds of blue and silver pinwheels on the front lawn of the Nevada Legislature to bring awareness to child abuse across the Silver State.
