Events include the 30th annual Outhouse Races in Virginia City, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in Carson City, Fright Night at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Oktoberfest at the Casino Fandango, the 26th annual 'Making a Difference' Golf Tournament and much more!

CARSON CITY — Get ready for more beer, brats and oompah bands! The Casino Fandango 6th annual Oktoberfest is Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6. This annual event will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Carson High School will again open its doors a little wider and longer for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Night like no other Sept. 9. Open House, Open Hearts is a community event focused on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing parent and guardian engagement at CHS, and celebrating the community, creativity, and diverse talents of Carson City.

This Saturday, the Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City will host its 16th annual “Greenhouse Garden Art Fest” which acts a platform for artists to show and sell their work, musicians to serenade the community, all the while amongst the backdrop of the Greenhouse in full bloom.

The list of local students who received scholarships were announced at the Salute to Scholars Program. Listed below are the students; congratulations!

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Dear Friends, happy spring time! While our newest season officially arrived March 20th, it seems just now I am starting to believe winter is finally losing its grip and giving way to the kinder, gentler, days of spring. With each day, I see a little more of the renewal of life we have come to associate with this time of year.

Future Farmers of America provided the venue, Carson High School students voted with their hard earned dollars, and AP Environment and Honors Biology teacher Cort Roseleip was chosen to kiss a goat. Readers must take a look at the photo above to fully comprehend the magnitude of this event.

Last minute shoppers will appreciate that many retailers, including local businesses and art galleries, are open today for those zero-hour Christmas gifts.

This is the last day to see Santa Claus at the Carson Mall and aboard the Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

Bid farewell to Autumn, because today is the first full day of Winter.

This is also the last weekend before Christmas Day, which means the last Santa Trains of the season at the Nevada Railroad Museum. Santa Claus also leaves his North Pole headquarters at the Carson Mall Sunday in preparation for his big night.

Hello and good day Carson City. We are headed into Friday, Dec. 7, 2018. The weekend is nearly here and your continued generosity never ceases to amaze. Ahead Friday is the annual KTVN Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive held locally at the Governor's Mansion and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn. It is also the 6th annual Project Empty Bowls at Carson Mall, which has become a local soup for the soul favorite stop.

In its sixth year, Carson City has fought hunger during the holidays in a very unique way by serving delicious hot soups prepared by local restaurants that are dished up in ceramic bowls made by the hands of people in the community.

This Friday, the all-you-can-eat fundraiser returns, this time at the Carson Mall, with an array of holiday entertainment, an auction, raffle and more to go along with delicious, savory and soothing hot soup delights.

The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. inside the Carson Mall's north entrance.
