And the winners are, everyone. The third annual Carson High School vs. Douglas High School Charity Basketball Game lit up CHS Wednesday, Nov. 15 and, as rivalry was put aside, it turned out to be the most successful basketball game fundraiser in CHS history with $10,000 raised for the seven students injured in the Nov. 9 vehicle accident on Kings Canyon Road.

Shortly after receiving national recognition as a mecca for holiday shopping, the Carson City Tourism and Culture Authority is releasing a video showcasing what is available in the capital city.

The wet weather has passed, at least for a few days. If you didn’t want to brave the downpour to drop-off a frozen turkey Thursday, then you are in luck. Another frozen turkey drive runs all day at the Max Casino in Carson City or the Sanchez Meat Co. in Minden. The Carson High Craft Show, a long-time locals’ favorite, begins this evening at 5 p.m.

Although Veterans Day was observed yesterday, there are several things today that honor our former members of the military. Battle Born Harley Davidson is throwing an appreciation party complete with food trucks. Virginia City’s annual Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. and the City of Reno will commence their parade after a short ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. You’ll find an abundance of craft fairs in Carson City, Carson Valley, and Dayton. Women love to shop, and guys walk around carrying their purchases, right? Well, maybe. It sure sounds like a stereotypical shopping experience, but it is not. The Carson High School Holiday Craft Fair, the area's best Christmas holiday shopping experience, is coming Nov. 17-18, and it is a time for ladies to purchase physical items and men to enjoy kinds of available food groups.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City hosts its second Harvest Train weekend this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21-22, with steam train rides, a pumpkin patch, craft fair and food trucks.

Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. Celebrating a quarter century of turning the round, orange members of the squash family into memorable Halloween carving traditions, Seeliger Elementary School in Carson City will host its 25th annual Pumpkin Patch this Saturday, Oct. 14.

A July favorite with a dash of all the right spices arrives in Carson City this weekend when Honor Flight Nevada hosts its annual High Sierra and Nevada Capitol Regional Chili Cook Off at Glen Eagles Restaurant this Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m- 5 p.m.

Fashions and steam technology of the Victorian Era collided Saturday with those of science fiction fantasy, creating a steampunk revival on the grounds of the Nevada State Railroad Museum (NSRM) in South Carson City.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. Honor Flight Nevada is hosting the High Sierra and Nevada Capitol Regional Chili Cook Offs at Glen Eagles Restaurant, Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 9.

The winner of the Chili Cook Offs and the winner of the Salsa competition continue on to the National Cook Off. People's Choice Chili competition is open to enter for free and is judged by all in attendance. Trophy and bragging rights to the winner.

It’s going to be gorgeous all weekend long, and there are plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunny weather.
